The Recording Academy und die MusiCares Foundation haben verkündet, dass Bruce Springsteen 2013 als  MusiCares Person of the Year ausgezeichnet werden wird.

Springsteen wird die Trophäe am 08. Februar überreicht bekommen, zwei Tage vor den Grammy Awards.

Neil Portnow, Präsident/CEO der MusiCares Foundation und The Recording Academy, sagt: „Bruce Springsteen is a truly gifted and Renaissance artist of our time, a national treasure, and an exemplary humanitarian. His career is a testament to the power of creative excellence, and his contributions as a philanthropist speak to the tenacity of the human spirit. We are privileged and honored to pay tribute to Bruce this year as our MusiCares Person of the Year.“

In den Jahren zuvor wurden schon Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Aretha Franklin und Don Henley mit dem Award ausgezeichnet.
